Dr. Keith Moffett Appointed New Director of the Macon-Bibb County E911 Center

by Tanya Womack

On January 2, 2014, Dr. Keith Moffett was appointed by Mayor Robert Reichert as the Director of the New Macon-Bibb County E911 Center. Moffett will direct the staff unit which is responsible for directing and handling E911 calls. The staff, under Dr. Moffet's direction will ensure that all emergency calls are dispatched to the appropriate resources, including the Sherriff's Office, Emergency Management System (EMS), Records and other various emergency agencies. Moffett is also responsible for assuring that the administration and operation of the E911 Center adheres to the guidelines and procedures under federal, state, local, and county ordinances, and departmental regulations.

Moffett, supervising 61 employees in the Macon-Bibb County E911 Center, stated that the citizens are excited about the new vision of the Macon-Bibb County Government. He also emphasized that he would like the citizens to know that 911 calls should only be used in case of an emergency. He stated, "We get a number of administrative calls and calls simply looking for an employee. These are not considered emergency calls. Citizens of Macon must call 478.751.7500 for non-emergency calls."

Dr. Moffett is passionate about education and is committed to serving and helping to propel others to the next level of their personal and professional growth. Moffett earned his Phd. in Educational Leadership at Mercer University’s Tift College of Education. He also earned his MBA from Wesleyan College, and his BS in Business and Information Technology from Macon State College.

Moffett has more than a decade of experience in serving the city of Macon, Georgia. He has worked the past seven years in the Mayor's Office as the Assistant to the Chief Administrative Office and previously was the Director of Internal Affairs.

He is married to Dr. Melinda D. Robinson-Moffett, Assistant Director of Career Services at Mercer University. They are the proud parents of four children.
