Cynthia McKinney
Former Congresswoman
As one of the most dedicated,
independent-thinkers of our time, Cynthis McKinney continues to
fight for the underdog. Since making history in 1992 as the
first African American woman to represent Georgia in the U.S.
House of Representatives, Cynthia has been a force to be reckoned
with. McKinney joined other civil rights leaders to file a
lawsuit against Georgia's infamous second primary, instituted
specifically for black disenfranchisement. Later, she became a
victim of the state's open primary, which was enacted for the same
purpose. From clean fuel public buses to constituent services,
from Community Oriented Police to sound barriers along the
interstate, Georgia's communities still benefit today from her
tireless work for those who can not represent themselves.
