The Georgia Informer's

Georgia's 50 Most Influential Women For 2007

Gwen Keys Fleming

Dekalb County District Attorney

As the first African American and the first woman ever to serve as District Attorney for Dekalb County, Gwen Keys prosecutes approximately 6,000 felony cases a year.  She is responsible for supervising and training a staff of about 50 attorneys and 100 personnel while administering an $11 million annual budget.  During her first term, she created a pre-trial diversion program, expanded services for victims, and created a unit to focus on crimes against women.  Her future goals include addressing gang violence and truancy among our teens.
