Dr. Shirley A. R. Lewis President of Paine College
President of Paine College since 1994, Dr. Shirley A.R. Lewis earner Bachelors degrees in Spanish and Speech, a Masters in Social Work and her Ph.D. in Education, and is the recipient of an honorary doctorate degree from Bethune Cookman College. A natural teacher, Dr. Lewis has been a junior and high school teacher, as well as a professor at several colleges, including George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University and Meharry Medical College. Dr. Lewis is the author of several articles on higher education and teacher training and has presented papers and conducted workshops all over the world, as well as given commencement addresses at Augusta Technical college, Bethune Cookman College and many others.
