An Atlanta man is celebrating a lottery win. Phillip Young, 47, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Millionaire Super 7’s and won a $1 million top prize.

He purchased the ticket at MLK CITGO, 3657 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Atlanta . He scratched the ticket in the store.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I slid the ticket in my pocket and didn’t tell anyone. I just couldn’t believe that it was real.”

Young has six children. While looking forward to the holidays, he and his wife, Alecia, have no immediate plans for their winnings.

Christmas will be very merry,” he exclaimed. “Winning is a good feeling.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
