Bakery Worker Rolling in Dough with $271,000 Fantasy 5 Win

Jerry Scrimpshire

A retired bakery worker from Columbus is rolling in the dough! Jerry Scrimpshire matched all five winning numbers in the Fantasy 5 drawing on Nov. 16 and won $271,252.

The winning numbers for the Nov. 16 drawing were: 7-8-12-21-22. Scrimpshire picked his winning combination using family birthdays.

According to Scrimpshire, his wife, Linder, watched the drawing and recognized his numbers.

“I was watching the football game in another room, and she came in there yelling,” Scrimpshire explains. “She asked me if I had played my numbers.”

Scrimpshire says they celebrated all night long. “We screamed, and we haven’t slept a wink.”

Scrimpshire, 65, retired from Dolly Madison Bakery. He plans to save most of his winnings and will do some home improvements.

Circle K Stores #6727, located at 5900 Veterans Pkwy. in Columbus , sold the lucky ticket. Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Circle K will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $8,000.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education.  All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
