Iron City Man Wins Mighty $100,000 In Lottery

An Iron City man is celebrating a lottery win. Willie McKinney, 50, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Mighty Mega Bucks and won a $100,000 top prize.

Iron City Convenience Store, 111 S. Church St. in Iron City , sold the lucky ticket. McKinney scratched the ticket as soon as he left the store.

“I told a friend that was riding with me that I’d won, and he didn’t believe me,” he said. “When I put the ticket in his face, he believed me.”

The father of two said he has plenty of gifts to buy this holiday season.

“I feel good,” McKinney exclaimed. “I deserved that ticket.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
