Macon Spanish Teacher Wins Sweet $40,000 Prize

A Macon Spanish teacher is going wild over a top prize lottery win. Elda Bryan-De Gammie, 40, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Wild Cherry Doubler and won $40,000.

Raceway #6728, 4331 Pio Nono Ave. in Macon , sold the lucky ticket.

“We were just passing by when we got the ticket,” she said. “I scratched it at home and was really excited when I saw that I’d won.”

Elda Bryan-De Gammie and her husband Terry, hold her $40,000 lottery check

Bryan-De Gammie and her husband, Terry, have no immediate plans for their lottery win.

“It feels great to win the lottery,” she exclaimed.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $10.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Pre-K Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 860,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
