Rome Plant Worker Wins
$52,000 A Year For Life

A retired Rome plant worker has landed a lifelong lottery win. Earl Brown, 67, won $52,000 a year for life playing Win For Life. He matched all six winning numbers in the June 20 Win For Life drawing and will receive $1,000 a week for the rest of his life.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet, but I’m excited,” said Brown, who worked for the Bekaert Corp. for 29 years.

Brown purchased his lucky numbers from Big H Food, 127 E. 12th St. in Rome , where he chose the Quik Pik option. Winning numbers from the June 20 Win For Life drawing were: 9-12-17-18-33-35 and the Free Ball was 16.

He watched the televised drawing and checked the numbers as they were called.

“I listened as the numbers were called, then I waited until it was televised again,” he said. “I had to see it again to believe it.”

Brown and his wife, Joann, have been married 44 years and have a 38-year-old daughter. He plans to pay bills with his winnings.

“Anytime I win something I feel lucky,” he shared. “I consider this a special win for me.”

Win for Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia , Virginia and Kentucky . As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia .

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
