win
“It’s
unbelievable. Wow!” Woods exclaimed immediately
following her lottery win. “All I kept saying to myself
was ‘Pick me! Pick me!’ This win will change our
lives.”
“Georgia’s $500
Million Club Finale” was held in conjunction with the
instant game Georgia’s $500
Million Club. Players could enter the $10 million
drawing by mailing in non-winning game tickets. Each of
the 77 weekly winners won $5,000 and became a game show
finalist.
Woods, her
husband, Larry, and their 15-year-old son, plan to take
a long vacation before returning to discuss plans for
their $10 million win.
“We’re
definitely going to pay off bills, and my son will go to
the best of schools,” she shared. “We’re very
lucky.”
Since its
first year, the Georgia Lottery
Corporation has returned over $10.1 billion to
the state of Georgia for
education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for
specific educational programs including
Georgia’s HOPE
Scholarship Program and
Georgia’s Pre-K
Program. More than 1 million students have received
HOPE, and more than 860,000 4-year-olds have attended
the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten
program.
