Cass Hatcher Appointed CEO of River Edge Behavioral Health

Cass HatcherAfter a nationwide search for a new CEO for River Edge Behavioral Health, the River Edge Community Service Board appointed Cass Hatcher February 2, 2023. In his new role, Hatcher will lead a team of more than 600 healthcare professionals dedicated to “Make Life Better” for individuals and families in Central Georgia seeking help with behavioral health, addictive disease, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. “I am very excited to lead a team of talented and dedicated healthcare professionals uniquely positioned to capitalize on the evolving mental health environment through restructuring, consolidation, and technology migration,” said Hatcher.

A graduate of Tuskegee University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Design and a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University in Public Administration, Hatcher is a Certified Construction Manager (Construction Manager Certification Institute) and is a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (the National Development Council). Hatcher brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role.

Hatcher joined River Edge in 2010 as Chief Facilities Development Officer where he oversaw the construction of multiple new treatment facilities and supportive housing projects valued at $23.7 million and is spearheading a new clinical and administrative hub in Macon. Along with previous housing developments built for some of Macon’s most vulnerable citizens, River Edge will be involved with future homelessness initiatives. “I want to broaden our community partnerships by investing in River Edge’s mission, people, and culture, allowing us to invest in the individuals and families we serve — not just tomorrow, but for years to come,” he said.

Before joining River Edge, Hatcher retired from the US Air Force with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served as an architectural engineer officer, managing numerous large missions that included supervising the construction and delivery of the $1.6 billion Peace Shield Air Defense System for the Royal Saudi Air Force.

Hatcher is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and has two daughters. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and has served on various local boards including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia and the Macon Knight Foundation Advisory Committee.
