Homegrown Hero

Did this title catch your attention? Are you wondering why I am writing about heroes? Do you expect to read about a good kid who ran in and saved a family from a burning home, rescued a drowning dog, or applied the Heimlich maneuver to stop a person from chocking? None of the above. I am Just taking another opportunity to brag about one of the many good kids around us.
A hero is a person who is admired or idolized for courage, outstanding achievements, or notable qualities. A genuinely good and selfless person who causes change. Meet Ethan James Wilson. He is an eighth-grade middle school student athlete. He is an honor student and BETA Club member and a member of the school band where he plays the trumpet. About one half of his classes are advanced: math, science, and social studies.
He is enrolled in a high school art class which he enjoys very much. His favorite color is blue. When asked what his favorite outfit is he said sweatpants, a hoodie and Jordans (tennis shoes). His favorite foods are Chinese and seafood. He is an awesome athlete and plays baseball, football and is on the wrestling team. His favorite football team is the Atlanta Falcons.
Ethan is the oldest of the three boys in his family. His dedicated parents spend family time, church time, extended family time, and lots of team parents’ time encouraging their sons. Speaking with his mother, she described Ethan as a caring big brother who is honest and kind, and easily corrected, setting a good example for his brothers who are also academic athletes. They love him and often imitate him from sports participations to style. During the last year of the pandemic when the schools reopened, Ethan entered Middle school and his parents, like many parents, worried about the awkward transition. For Ethan it was positive and smooth and they breathed a sigh of relief as they observed that he continued to like school.
Popular among his peers, he is social but prefers to spend his free time with just his closest group of friends. They spend most of their free time together, going to the movies, bowling, playing video games, playing Top Golf, and watching Netflix. He also enjoys drawing. One of his favorite books is the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. He loves to travel and wants to visit New York and California to mingle with the crowds and enjoy the attractions.
A hero is not as hard to find as you may think. He is a genuinely good person that the world needs.
