Evergreen Baptist Becomes The Bridge as Pastor Roosevelt Glover Opens Doors to All
Pastor Roosevelt Glover, after much prayer by himself and others, has given Evergreen Baptist Church a new name and a greater mission.
“A couple of years ago, as I was ministering to a stranger in the IHOP, the lady asked what church I pastored, as she was spiritually moved and wanted to attend,” said Pastor Glover. “When I told her, she stated that she would never attend another Baptist church. Her words disturbed me, and I began to pray about this, wondering where God was leading me,” he continued. “I asked others at Evergreen to pray with me and we were moved by the Holy Spirit to become a bridge between denominations, with an evangelical approach to Bible preaching that would speak The Word to all people.” The Bridge Church now has other locations, including The Bridge of Sparta (Georgia) and The Bridge Church in Atlanta.
The history of Evergreen Baptist Church is not new. Before Pastor Glover’s arrival on the scene, the church location at 5221 Nisbet Drive in Macon was named Bloomfield Gardens Baptist Church and Evergreen was located on Hartley Bridge Road. In 2015, the pastor at Bloomfield Gardens made Glover the new pastor and gifted him and his congregation with the building on Nisbet Drive. It was here that Pastor Glover and his leadership team began growing the church.
Pastor Glover is clearly not new to the pulpit; he led Evergreen Baptist Church for 17 years before the name change. Known as the “common man’s pastor,” he is gifted with the ability to bring the Word of God to his congregation through everyday life scenarios and easily understandable speech. His prophetic preaching style yields direction for his flock and the results in followers’ lives is clear to see.
The Bridge Church and Pastor Glover are excited to announce their upcoming revival and invite the public to join them every Wednesday during the month of August at 7:30pm. Guest speakers for the event include Bishop Oscar Wisdom (His Grace Church) and the Rev. Dr. Evans Brown, Sr. (True Faith Church of God in Christ). The location of The Bridge Church of Macon is 5221 Nisbet Drive.
A native of Sparta, Georgia, Pastor Glover is an alumnus of Hancock Central High School. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Theology from Beulah Heights University in Atlanta and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Saint Thomas Christian University in Jacksonville, Florida. He also serves as Chaplain at Riverbend Correctional Facility in Milledgeville where he helps inmates find new direction for their lives through Christ. Glover is a Certified Life Coach, Teacher, Trainer, Speaker, and business owner. His primary focus is to equip people for the work of the ministry. To this end, The Bridge Church has numerous ministries that serve the congregation and the community including a Men’s Ministry; Marriage Ministry; and the Food Pantry, open every fourth Saturday from 12pm to 2pm.
Pastor Glover presently resides in Macon and is the father of two children, Quiesha Monique Glover and David Jeremiah Glover.
