MGI Staff Report

It is with great pride that the Middle Georgia Informer reports that our publisher Cornelia S. Walker is the recent recipient of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanitarianism courtesy of Dr. Dianna Global Enterprises (DDGE) in partnership with Global International Alliance.

Dianna Hollins is the founder and CEO of Dianna Global Enterprises and an international and transformational speaker who has traveled intensively to empower thousands throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Carribean Islands, and South Africa. Dr. Lenora Peterson – Founder of Global International Alliance – is also a United States and United Nations Ambassador. GIA is connected to at least two hundred countries.

While serving as the pastor of House of Shekinah Glory in Macon, Hollins was designated a Goodwill Ambassador for the state of Georgia and received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden. She is a highly requested spokesperson and has appeared as a guest on numerous television and radio affiliate networks.

The Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism is not a Phd, but one that a university or degree awarding institution waives the usual degree requirements. However, the degrees received by DDGE recipients represent Global International Alliance’s highest recognition of outstanding and distinguished contributions to scholarship, creativity, leadership, and humanitarianism or public service, that represent a state-level, national or international model to others and reflect the broad mission of the university.

Candidates for the degree must be at least 25 years of age and have demonstrated good standing in character. Qualifying candidates include community advocates and leaders, humanitarian leaders, public servants, teachers/educators, law enforcement members, veterans, and anyone that has dedicated volunteering their time to the betterment of mankind and all humanity according to DDGE.

“This is a celebration of their remarkable milestone in the lives of these outstanding individuals. Each of them has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to service and humanity,” said Hollins.

Walker certainly was a good choice. As a mother and grandmother, community servant-leader, and veteran media professional she is revered and respected in various corners of her community. “I’m honored to have been chosen to receive this distinguished degree. I plan to continue working in the respect I have and even more to ensure that DDGE made a good choice,” Walker stated.

In addition to Walker and other candidates from around the country, two other Macon based residents received the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanitarianism in front of guests, family, and friends during the July 20 commencement at the Dorothy Jemison Day Theatre at the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham, Alabama.

Tubman African American Museum Executive Director Harold Young was one. He heads one of the country’s largest museums dedicated to the promotion and preservation of African American history and culture. As “Brother Harold” while on air, Young is also a Steller Award winning media journeyman that is a staple in the daily listening diets of local gospel fans as a member of WYPZ – PRAISE 99.5 FM, when not leading his congregation as the pastor of For the Glory of God Outreach Ministries. “I feel so blessed and honored to receive this degree. I’m very grateful,” he said.

Miller Middle Fine Arts Magnet School Paraprofessional Sped/Pec teacher Ruth Cater joined Walker and Young as a Macon based recipient. The astute entrepreneur also owns Kingdom Builders Financial Services and Destiny Academy Childcare and expressed appreciation for being chosen. “It’s an honor to have been recognized. As a business owner, this designation will give me a broader and multifaceted market to interact with as I continue to serve others.”

Warner Robins resident Kyanne Jackson also received her doctorate at the commencement. The Urban Air employee and electrical engineer was elated about her new designation. “I believe in community outreach and take pleasure in giving back,” Jackson says. “So, for me it was an honor to receive a nomination for my work in the community.”

Other Warner Robins recipients of the DDGE Doctorate Degree in Humanitarianism include: Good Thing Realty’s veteran Licensed Realtor Katrina Hall Haynes; Community Alliance founder, Simmons Tax Prep LLC, and BonVivant Restaurant & Bar owner Gwenkeia Simmons; and Pastor Sonya Smith of Covenant Community Connection Bible Church of Macon and Warner Robins, where she serves as Co-Pastor beside what she describes as her husband and best friend Bishop James L. Smith, Jr.
Hollins considers all recipients a cut above in their fields of endeavors and holds great expectations for them all beyond the commencement. “As they go forth from this moment, we are confident that they will continue to shine brightly, inspire others, and lead with empathy and wisdom while making a difference.”
