The newly elected officers include: Committee Chair: Renoalda Scott, Executive Vice Chair: Julia Adele Callahan, Vice Chair of Membership: Rev. Greg Turner, Secretary: Angelia Hoomes, Treasurer: Lynn Snyder, Newly elected Chair Renoalda Scott says, “I’m ready to lead Macon Bibb Democratic Committee toward community impact. I bring a vision of collaboration and inclusivity with open communication, mutual respect and shared goals. The New Way Forward will build more inroads to the community, recruiting new faces and voices to run for office in Macon-Bibb. It’s a New Way Forward for Macon Bibb County!” Re-elected Executive Vice Chair Julia Adele Callahan says, “I am committed to building a strong community organization out of our Democratic Party that actually honors the values of working class Americans.”Newly elected Treasurer Lynn Snyder says, “I’m looking forward to working with the new Board to continue moving the Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee forward. I feel that we need to increase our presence in the community. As proud Democrats, we will show the community that we care about Macon Bibb all the time, not just when there is an election.”This is the first time the local committee has had a majority of women elected to leadership: Chair, Executive Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. This is significant after the intentional removal of the protections in Roe V. Wade (1973), the disbanding of Georgia’s Maternal Mortality Committee, and the historic campaign of Vice President Kamala Devi Harris. The Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee meets monthly and welcomes all like-minded citizens to become involved and contribute to our community.
